📡 Morse Code Translator

Translate text to Morse code and back. A ↔ .-, B ↔ -..., supports encoding and decoding — instant, in-browser, no upload.

About the Morse Code Translator

This tool converts text to International Morse Code and back. Each letter is mapped to its standard sequence of dots (.) and dashes (-): A → .-, B → -..., and so on. Digits and a few common punctuation marks are also supported. Letters within a word are separated by a single space; words are separated by a slash (/) so word boundaries survive a round trip.

Decode mode parses space-separated Morse sequences, accepting either ./- or */_ style marks, and converts each token back to its character. Unknown tokens are kept as-is so you can spot gaps in the input.

How it works

  • To Morse — Uppercases the input, walks each character, and emits the matching Morse sequence. Spaces between words become /.
  • From Morse — Splits the input on whitespace, looks up each token in the reverse table, and rejoins. A / token becomes a space between words.
  • Characters without a Morse mapping are passed through unchanged in both directions.

How to use the translator

  1. Paste or type text (or Morse codes separated by spaces) in the input box.
  2. Click To Morse to encode text, or From Morse to decode Morse.
  3. The result appears in the output box.
  4. Click Copy to copy the result, or Clear to start over.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool upload my text? No. All conversion happens locally in your browser. Your text never leaves your device.

What format should Morse input be in? Tokens separated by spaces, using . and - (or */_). Use / on its own to mark word breaks.

Does it support languages other than English? The standard International Morse table covers A–Z and 0–9 plus a few punctuation marks. Accented characters are not mapped and pass through unchanged.

How are word breaks represented? When encoding, a space between words becomes /. When decoding, / becomes a space — so word structure round-trips cleanly.
